A poem, just for fun!

Lacrimae Rerum

Politics: (5a) the total complex of relations between people living in society

–Merriam-Webster

Which begins, then, with two people.

Who perhaps have never met and very likely

never will

standing on either side of the road hoping

motorists will see their signs

and have an epiphany, right there

in the middle of Church Street

pull over and take up a sign as well

until we’re all out here on a side

the asphalt ever wider

and hotter between us.  My sign

says Who Is My Neighbor and hers simply

No More Change.  When it rains

see how our Magic Marker letters

weep and weep into our hands.
